The last game of a season is always a big deal, especially when the team has a chance to go undefeated for the second year in a row.
After six games, the Shores Middle School eighth grade football team went undefeated, beating Grand Haven 31-0 in its last game of the year.
And this has varsity coach Matt Koziak excited about the future.
“I'm excited to start working with these young athletes and help them develop into quality student athletes,” Koziak said. “It's always good to have new players and new talent on the team.”
On any team, there will always be room for new talent, and that is what the eighth grade team will bring to the high school.
For this group of athletes, it was not their first year going undefeated. Last year when they were the seventh grade team, they also went 6-0.
“I think the eighth grade team has had tremendous success at the middle school level,” Koziak said. “If they bring that same work ethic to the high school, they have a good chance to emulate that success.”
