For more than five years, parent volunteers have been providing a unique way for seniors to cap their final year by offering a Senior Celebration immediately after the commencement ceremony.

Senior Celebration was started as an effort to ensure the safety and well being of graduateson graduation night but at the same providing students with excitement and a celebratory atmosphere that they deserve for a job well done.

"I think it’s important for seniors to go to Senior Celebration because it helps them stay out of trouble," senior Abbey Murphy said. "Kids like to have fun after they graduate, and this is a safe way for us to have fun with all of our classmates for a last time."

This event will take place after the graduation ceremony, which will be held at the L.C. Walker Arena, on Wednesday, June 2.

Students will be transported by bus to a secret location and will be returned to the high school by 6 the next morning.

The night will be filled with entertainment, activities, prizes, and plenty of food and drinks. This is also a great opportunity to spend time with your classmates.

"We promise to make this evening one you will never forget and make it filled with lots of fun," said Melissa Harris, who is the head of Senior Celebration.

This event is an important part of student’s high school experience and will become a lasting memory. It also puts parents and the community at ease about student’s safety.

"I truly believe that Senior Celebration is good for students, parents, staff, and our entire community," Harris said. "Students walk away with lots of great memories, gifts and awesome raffle prizes. Our entire community cares about our students and wants only best for them."

With the end coming closer, most students seem to be excited for their last chance to have a great night with their classmates that they may never have the chance see again.

"This is our last chance to make memories with our classmates," senior Morgan Thompson said. "It is going to be the last huge party of our high school careers. Everyone should go. It’s going to be sweet."

Forms were mailed to all seniors, but additional forms for this event can be found in the front office. If students register by today, the cost is $70; after that, the cost is $80.

If there are any additional questions students can contact Melissa Harris at (231) 206-1564 or harrisme2@comcast.net.
