When senior Keontre’ Miskel set his pre-season individual goals, he wanted at least two things.

    He wanted to be an All-State wide receiver – check.

    He also wanted to sign a scholarship to play college football – check.

    Before the varsity wrestling match on Wednesday, Feb. 3, Miskel signed to play college football next year at Grand Valley State University.

    "It was the best feeling ever to finally sign," Miskel said. "I waited through three months through the whole recruiting process, and it was a relief to finally get it done."

    Miskel helped Shores to its first winning football season in 13 years by pulling in 44 receptions for 861 yards and 8 touchdowns. Miskel was also a lock-down defensive back for Shores, recording 51 tackles, good for third most on the team and most among defensive backs.

    "Grand Valley wants me to try me at cornerback and play defense," Miskel said. "But if I can prove to be a better wide receiver, they will play me there."

    Miskel was recruited mainly by GVSU and Saginaw Valley State University but decided to go with the closer to home choice of Grand Valley.

    "I chose Grand Valley because I thought hard, and they had the same to offer me school-wise," Miskel said. "Grand Valley (traditionally) wins the conference and goes deeper in the playoffs."
