More than $3,500 was raised by the boys’ soccer team for P.O.R.T. (Pediatric Oncology Resource Team).

    On Oct. 1, the boys’ soccer team hosted Reeths-Puffer in a game that raised money for P.O.R.T.

    The event was put on because both senior Paul Boysen and freshman Cole Schaffer are cancer survivors.

    Over the course of a week, the soccer team sold P.O.R.T. T-shirts, wore special P.O.R.T. jerseys for the game, raffled off two soccer balls signed by all the players from Shores and Puffer, had a silent auction for a five-course dinner for five couples, and collected dollars for goals scored during both the JV and varsity games.

    The money that was raised for admission was also donated to P.O.R.T.

    "I was proud of how much money we raised," said senior Jordan Tejchma, who is a captain. "This really meant a lot to us because of the two cancer survivors on our team."
