The words "I’m on a boat" won’t just bring up images of a cheesy music video of T-Pain after Sept. 12 for some of Shores’ students.
Those words will bring up memories of the dance that the Student Senate Class of 2010 will be hosting on the Port City Princess.
Senior Jordan Tejchma, Student Senate President, said, "Our class wanted to do something that was new and exciting while using the resources we have in our local community."
The Port City Princess will set sail at 7 p.m. and will cruise around Lake Michigan until it docks back at the Mart Dock at 10 p.m.
This semi-formal occasion will be for juniors and seniors only.
Junior Shelby Hurst said, "I’m really excited because it’s the first dance of the year, and it’s only for upperclassmen."
Tickets, which cost $25 and are limited to 150 people, can still be purchased from art teacher Nette Verstraete.
The Port City Princess has been doing cruises on Lake Michigan for a number of years and has held many occasions on board.
She is docked at Mart Dock, which is located on the lakeside of Seaway right across from the old train station in downtown Muskegon.
"It is a great opportunity to get kids excited for the school year and boost their school spirit," principal Jennifer Bustard said.
Ms. Bustard added that she thinks that it will be an awesome opportunity to promote the idea of kids getting together outside of school.
If this is true, don’t miss the boat.
