On the corner of 9th and Escondido Blvd. there is a place called Peterson’s Donuts where sticky maples and chocolate bars on display.

When one walks up the front, dozens of different types of doughnuts are found.

Doughnuts with bright frosting and sprinkles are also made there as well.

The whole corner is a unique place to visit.

The hand chairs, fresh doughnuts, and warm coffee makes it a good place to relax and hang out with a crowd of people.

Established in 1981, the Donut Corner has been an icon in Escondido for 30 years.

All of the doughnuts, even the frosting, are homemade.

"I like Peterson’s because they are not only delicious, but they are also creative with their doughnuts. It is a real doughnut corner and not a chain of doughnut shops," sophomore Juan Cortez said.

They also offer "Texas Style" doughnuts.

These giant-sized doughnuts are ordered days before and are available in any shape.

"I like how big they are and they are really good," senior Brianna Ford said.

The Donut Corner does not just offer doughnuts; they also offer muffins, pastries, twists, bars, cookies, ice cream and beverages.

Peterson’s is open 24 hours a day and seven days a week.

They are only closed one day a year, Christmas.

They have a lot of customers because of the fact that they are available at any hour of the day, unlike other places.

"Their doughnuts are delicious and I love that they are always open," sophomore Carla Prietoo said.

Peterson’s is an inexpensive place. A single doughnut is $.85 and a dozen is $8.50.

Drinks range from $1 to $2. Their ice cream is cheap too. A cup is $.85 and a cone is a $1.

Peterson’s has been around for a while and plan to stay in business such longer.

Since it is such a popular donut shop they will be opening another shop in another North County area.

"Their doughnuts are the best in Escondido," sophomore Bobby Woods said.
