“The talent show was beyond a success. Way more people came than anticipated. A lot more people participated in the talent show than were expected,” sophomore Spirit Activities Commissioner for ASB Deanna Traczek said.

On Friday, March 25, ASB hosted its very own “OG’s Got Talent” talent show. The show consisted of 22 acts, ranging from math teacher Mae Morales hula dancing, to student Sevin Lutgen showing off his skills with a Diablo, a Japanese yo-yo.

“Sevin was awesome. Everyone had a talent, but his was extraordinary. Not many people know what a Diablo is, let alone know how to use it in such an awesome way,” Traczek said.

The Performing Arts Center was filled to the brim with students, all excited to see each act and possibly see the “next big star.” The show was opened by OPUS 1 show choir performing Owl City’s song, “Fireflies.” The act was followed by teachers Michelle Hammock, Mae Morales, and Amanda Pfielschiefter each performing dances. The teacher portion of the show then segued to the singing portion, which was by far the largest. About half of the acts were students singing. Some songs had the background music on a CD, while others had guitar and other instruments accompanying them. The

“Having other people on stage with you means there is less stress on the group as a whole, making for a more fun act for us and for the audience” Junior Elias Symons said.

Dancers and other interesting acts, including the Diablo, followed the singers. Two dancers, the Japanese yo-yo, and three rap acts each called the stage their own for brief windows.

The show was closed by a group of students performing a cover of The Killers.

The PAC was filled to the brim with students, watching as each act went on.

This is the first talent show Orange Glen has had in 7 years.

“[The show] was in the gym, and it was packed. It was crazy. It was actually a contest, there were score sheets. They were judged on presentation, crowd reaction, whether or not they looked prepared, and other stuff like that,” math teacher and judge of talent shows past Raul Jaquez said.
