Escondido has around 180 thousand people and the perfect day differs from person to person. Escondido has many perks that residents may not know of. A group of friends or couples can enjoy an extraordinary time by going to main attractions. For example, Grand Avenue, Kit Carson Park, Daily Ranch Dixon Lake, Ice-O-Plex, and the Westfield Mall are fun things to do in Escondio.
“I would go to the Westfield Mall with friends to go shopping and hang out. In the end of the day, I'd probably go to Olive Garden to eat.” said freshman Justina Cheng.
There is something for everyone to do in Escondido. Residents and visitors who are very cultured may enjoy the many art exhibits located in Grand Ave. or the famous marble statues in Kit Carson Park. There are also many antique shops with fascinating art pieces, old magazines and newspapers if interested in early America.
Citizens who wish to experience a nice evening can get a taste of the Farmers Market; an array of fresh fruit, jewelry, baked goods and fresh flowers. The Farmers Market takes place every Tuesday on Grand Ave. from 2:30 to 6 p.m, rain or shine. Different businesses set up booths and sell all sort of goodies. It is also a great way to get organic foods for those who enjoy a healthier life style.
Another popular event is Cruisin’ Grand, which is every Friday from April through September. On www.downtownescondido.com, it says Grand Ave. held the second largest fair in the state on May 15. Residents can also view many antique cars from 1973 to present day. It is a very cool experience for people who want to experience automobiles from the past and the early 50's setting of downtown Escondido.
Just around the corner from the excitement of Grand Ave. is the movies and a little strip mall. It is a great place to hang out with friends.
Driving, walking, biking, skating or taking the bus further into Escondido, there is another strip mall which has a few big stores like Target and Toys R Us. Shoppers can also find stores such as, TJ Maxx, Pier 1, Plato’s Closet, Cost Plus: World Market, and Tilly’s.
A store that is enjoyable and unique in Escondido is Hawthorne. Hawthorne is a store that sells animals, feed and an array of accessories. For example, goats, birds, chickens, bunnies and other farm animals. It also sells cool trinkets, saddles, and household supplies.
“I just want to be with the perfect man and go to Dixon Lake and have a picnic. I'd also camp out there with him but in separate tents.” said freshman Esther Hernandez.
For anyone who enjoys a good adventure and enjoys nature more then city life, Escondido offers many choices, for example, Daily Ranch, Wild Animal Park, and Lake Hodges. Daily Ranch is for people who like a nice, beautiful hike through rocks and over the hills of Escondido.
Down the mountain of Daily ranch is Dixon Lake. It has nice green areas, rivers and many plants. Lake Hodges is a more of a flat spot, good for running and even taking dogs to accompany a walk.
Escondido is a city with many hidden treasures. Residents in this city should take a day and explore all of what Escondido has to offer. The possibilities are endless.
