The time has finally come! Throw confetti, march in a parade; heck, just throw a worldwide party. Senior year is here! It’s time to enjoy the termination of your high school sentence.
The journey of required education has reached its end. The explorer has come in arm’s length of that “X” that marks the spot, all in hopes of walking at graduation and being handed that diploma. That’s the gold medal seniors have to look forward to; signaling that they made it through twelve years of math, science, English, and anything else the district decided to throw at them. They puff out their chests and declare they made it, they won.
Seniors are able to triumphantly stand on that stage in front of their family and friends, relishing in their feat. They beat high school, even that cancerous junior year where “Hard Work” no longer meant going on Sparknotes.com, but actually doing the assignment and using one’s brain to get it turned in on time.
Achieving something that so many Americans drop out of allows the seniors to have pride in their intellect. Another event to boost their pride, and make senior year even better, is the opportunity to earn admission into a college. Showing off your admission letter to that one teacher who looked down on you raises the student’s self-esteem and sets senior year in diamonds and gold.
All these things: graduation, admissions, even Prom pictures, all complete the mathematical equation to a successful senior year. Later on, a person will be able to look back, happily reminiscing of their last year in high school.
All in all, senior year is about glory in the fact that high school is able to go down in history under the “Accomplishments” era.
