Clint Eastwood’s newest film “J. Edgar” starring Leonardo DiCaprio filmed in Warrenton on March 28, 2011. The 81 year old director is making a biographical film on the life of the first FBI director J. Edgar Hoover.

The film focuses on Hoover's early career dealing with the creation of the FBI, and will also describe the rumored aspects of his personal life.

The buzz has been spreading around Warrenton, and people are keying in. “I think it’s an awesome thing that someone is making a movie in the town.” Junior Ryan Waddell said.

Margaret McCann, who is housing the production, agrees.

“I think it is great to have Warrenton for the back drop of any movie, and know that people actually see the charm in the town," McCann said. "VA Film Industry is very good about attracting film business to the state.”

The production will arrived in Warrenton on March 28th and stayed until the 31st. The team was housed at Great Meadows.

“They are parking the production trailers, and several large trucks used for props, and equipment at Great Meadows,” McCann said.

The filming will take place in a small house located in the Plains.

“The house is filled with period antiques that make it perfect for the film” McCann said.

The effects of the scheduled filming still have yet to be seen. However, many students are worried that problems might occur.

“I think the filming is going to back up traffic.” Senior Alyssa Gorman said. “Also depending on where they are going to film, people might be delayed from getting in and out of the town.”

Many students, on the other hand, are greatly looking forward to the event. “I’m looking forward to it!” Junior Jack Hackman said. “Hopefully I can be a part of the movie somehow.”

Other people are excited by the benefits that the film could bring to the town.

“I think it will bring lots of people into Old Town, and hopefully they will eat in the restaurants, and shop in the stores while they are waiting for a glimpse of Clint Eastwood,” McCann said. “The town sheriffs will be paid extra and the town will also be paid for the use of their facilities.”

When the film is released many students said they will be willing to watch it. “If it sounds good, I will go,” Junior Mustafa Rokai said.

Its current release date is set for sometime in 2012. he people of Warrenton should be looking forward to seeing their town on the big screen.
