The UCM Band Day is one of the most looked-forward-to parades of the year for the high school marching band. On October 10th, the band competed in one of the longest parades of the marching season. The cougars weren’t exactly on their ball, but they’re supportive people that will learn from their mistakes.
At 7:45 in the morning all of the bands gather in the UCM football stadium to practice for the pregame show later in the day. Dr. Lubaroff, the UCM band director, selected music played at the pregame mass band performance. This year he selected “Monkey Wrench,” by the Foo Fighters, “Boogie Wonderland,” by Earth Wind and Fire, and the UCM fight song “Go Mules!”
Once the mass rehearsal was over, the parade was starting to line up. The parade route is just over a mile long, which pushes bands to their limit. After the parade, there is a break for the bands to eat lunch, then off to the awards assembly. Directly after the awards assembly, the bands all line up for the pregame show. Bands are always welcome to stay for the rest of the game and watch the Marching Mules march their halftime show.
