With a district record of 7-1 and an overall record of 11-4 as of Jan. 21, the King boys' soccer team is proud of their successful season.
At their game against John Ehret on Jan. 21, the boys trounced the Patriots 20-0. Freshman forward Fanklin Diaz led the team with five goals, and junior midfielder Emiliano Castellano scored three.
The boys’ soccer team has posted five shut-out games and currently ranks second in district.
During the game against the West Jefferson Buccaneers on Jan. 18, junior Captain and right wing Brian Diaz, sophomore Mohamed Hameurlaine and leading scorer Franklin Diaz each secured goals for their team. The boys walked away with a 3-0 victory.
At their first district game, held at Yenni Stadium on Jan. 12, the boys played the Chalmette High School Owls. Some team members thought the odds were against them during the game; the weather was around 40 degrees, but the boys succeeded in a 13-0 victory.
After the Jan. 12 game, sophomore center Jonathan Hinds said, "Tonight we did really good distributing the ball throughout midfield."
The team also seems to have some interesting tactics for defeating their opponents. Hinds said, "Overall, I think we're doing really well. We're playing as a team and confusing them with our fast Spanish."
