The class of 2013 emerged as the winner of last week’s Penny Wars! As a reward, 2013 will receive the total amount of money in their jar while the money collected in the other three classes’ jars will be donated to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. Penny Wars takes place every year in the school store, which is located in the cafeteria. During all lunch periods for an entire week, students put pennies in their own class jars to receive positive points. Silver coins can then be put in the other classes’ jars to detract points. For example, a quarter would be worth -25 points!  While promoting friendly class competition, Eleanor Roosevelt High School managed to collect $500 that will be donated to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
