The first day of school is nerve-wracking for any student, but for freshmen, back-to-school is a more dreadful experience.
As ninth graders, you’re the “new” kids; and despite having your buddies from middle school transition into high school along your side, you’re still concerned about finding your place in the midst of the “big kids.”
One thing eighth graders can look forward to next year as freshmen is Link Crew; where you can make new friends with upper classmen and experience bonding time with your fellow classmates.
Joining sports teams and clubs that catch your eye is also a great way to include yourself in the high school melting pot.
Vice-Principle of middle school, Mr. Fleming said, “Nobody is going to put you in your place; you have to do it on your own. Just be proactive; if you see something that interests you, like a club, go check it out.”
“I’m mostly excited about meeting new people,” eighth grader Samuel Olvera said.
“I look forward to doing fun activities,” said Kayla Fernandez, who is also in the eighth grade, “and being more involved.”
Freshmen should also think about how important being a high schooler is.
“Eighth graders can look forward to starting their high school career because that’s when things count and become more important,” Mr. Fleming said.
While most eighth graders are hesitant about starting their first year in high school, most of them are excited for more dances, better electives, and thinking about what colleges they want to gear their lives towards.
