Even though varsity football struggled in the pre-season, they have been very successful in league play.
“The season started off slow, but started to pick up and we overcame the pre-season loses,” said Senior Theo Chamber, jersey No. 1.
Football won the community game against Valley Christian with the score of 18-7, and league games; Norwalk 41-28, Cerritos 39-10, John Glen at a blow-out score of 48-7, and Bellflower 35-0. Varsity stands 4-1 in league.
“All the players are good,” said Assistant Coach Woody Grayson.
Varsity football is currently 1st in Suburban league, 8th in their division, and 9th in the Long Beach District.
Senior John Pale, jersey No. 90 said, “The season is going great and [it is] fun.”
Junior Jerry Smith, jersey No. 4 said, “The season is fun, I have had no challenges, and I am a beast.”
“The season is great, the next game against Artesia will be perfect, there will be no mistakes, and both sides of the ball will be one-hundred percent” said Senior Jason Logologo, jersey No. 24.
We can expect the varsity team to continue their success, play their best in the CIF playoffs, and to represent Mayfair in a positive way.
Coach Woody said, “I’m proud of the fact, that even though we started 0-3, the team never gave up hope, and continued to play hard!”
