Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens, bright copper kettles and warm woolen mittens, brown paper packages tied up with strings . . . these are a few of my favorite things.

If any of the above sounded like cool presents you received this Christmas, either you’re clinically insane or you’re just weird. The other 99.9 percent of Mayfair’s student body was hoping for some of the latest and greatest gifts the falling dollar can buy. iPods and cameras, gift cards and Rock bands—surely we scored something better than new socks this past Christmas.

But seriously, has anyone really noticed how quickly those Christmas presents can wear out? I mean, how long did it take you to forget about that new football or to shove those new clothes to the back of your closet? Did you really spend all that extra Christmas cash in the first week?

Knowing how critically vital this information is to overall health and wellbeing, The Windjammer staff conducted a survey and to figure out, once and for all, how long it truly takes to get bored with your new Christmas presents. The data was based on a survey of 100 Mayfair High School students (25 from each grade) and the results are surprisingly one-sided.

According to the awesome pie graph, over 90% of the students surveyed claimed to enjoy their Christmas presents for at least one year after unwrapping them.

"I got an Xbox 360 for Christmas. I’m never going to get tired of that," says senior LaRon Thomas.

As for me, I enjoyed another merry Christmas this year filled with food, family and (my favorite) presents: a new digital camera, new earphones, a few gift cards, and a mess of clothing. Those were a few of the holiday gifts I received over winter break and I haven’t gotten tired of them yet. (To be honest, I’m not exactly sure how to get tired of gift cards.)
