Tattoos Anyone?
Advertising
(Nov. 23, 2010) -- Driving throughout Los Angeles, it’s not easy to miss all of the tattoo and body piercing shops filling the streets. The irony here is that all the tattoo shops are simple, small stores with a big sign that says “TATTOO” on it in bold, capital letters.

I don’t know what it is, whether it is the simplicity of the store or the idea of doing something out of the ordinary, but I always have some sort of attraction to just go in there and get a piercing or a tattoo. Obviously I’ve never done this, and instead have just driven by the shop, smirking at the idea of doing so.

When logically thinking about getting a tattoo I’m against it strongly. On the other hand, I don’t have anything wrong with body piercings, but it does depend on where it is on the body. Tattoos, to me, seem extremely pointless and a damage to your body.

Sometimes people get the name or a picture of a family member or friend that passed away tattooed on their body; this to me makes more sense, although I probably wouldn’t do it myself, people do have their reasons. But for those who just think it’s cute or it’s manly to get a tattoo, I honestly believe it’s not worth the chances of you regretting it later and ruining your body on top of it all.

Another issue is that tattoos are something that adults tend to go out and get one night when they’re drunk as a way of being out of the ordinary. I find this as reckless because it’s a stupid decision that was made during a time where you weren’t thinking straight, and is extremely difficult to take back.

On the flip side, body piercings are easily removed if they become a regret, and therefore I find them better than tattoos. There are some body piercings I find more appalling than others, though.

The piercings I do prefer are ear piercings, nostril piercing, belly button piercing, and lip piercing. Most of the other piercings I find unnecessary or unattractive – although I don’t have a legitimate reason for it – I think due to their unpopularity I prefer the listed piercings.

Tattoos and piercings become more popular as the years go on, and whether it’s for culture purposes or just for the heck of it, most of us feel the urge, small or big, to get either.
