Advertising

(June 14, 2010) -- This year, Maral Guarino's poetry class were fortunate to go to the Norton Simon Museum in Pasadena on June 7, where the students experienced other artists' work. After the students arrived, the they were greeted by a museum guide, who took the students through the exhibits, including Ellsworth Kelly lithographs and Visions of Japan. "It was beneficial to see different styles. The styles of art ranged from abstract to impressionism," said junior Kelly Mejia.

Before taking this field trip, the students in the classroom focused on presenting, reading and writing poetry. This field trip was meant to be both a reward and act as an inspiration to the students and their future writing.

After visiting the Norton Simon, the students were allowed to walk around Old Town Pasadena, where they ate lunch. Mejia said that this field trip was a great way to bond outside of class.

As for comments and future references, Mejia also said, "We learned a lot about styles and emotions that artists portray. We got to see some artists' work that we had never heard of before."

"It was fun visiting the museum and different forms of art and learned what inspired the artists. It was a beautiful museum and I would go there again!" said junior Shant Anjelian.
