(June 14, 2010) -- On Tuesday, June 1, the Teacher of the year award was given to P.E. and health teacher Randy Tiffany. It was the second time he has won the award.

“It was a surprise,” he said. But Tiffany sensed something was up a few minutes before his name was called. “I saw my daughter stick her head out, so I knew something was up,” he said.

Tiffany said he was humbled to receive the award. “It was a little embarrassing,” he said. “I don’t really like to be recognized for things I’m supposed to be doing anyway.”

The Classified Staff of the year award was also presented on the same day to head custodian Ramona Rodriguez. She is retiring at the end of June. When her name was called, she was surprised. She stayed back until she was encouraged by teachers around her to accept the award.
