(June 11, 2010) -- It’s almost become a tradition: for the past few years the sophomore humanities classes embark on a field trip to the Getty Center in Los Angeles.

As the class of 2010 unloaded off of the school buses in the Getty parking lot, they, like the other visitors, boarded the computer-operated tram to transport them to the museum. “I remember riding the monorail up to the museum, since it was situated on top of a hill with an amazing view of the city of Los Angeles,” said senior Fahad Nathani.

“It was my first field trip at Clark, so I was pretty excited. I remembered all the interesting pieces of artwork displayed as well as learning the history behind them, Nathani said. Even though it was a break from school to present the students with a different hands-on way to learn the material, they were still presented with worksheets they were to complete and a tour guide to answer any of their questions.

After the humanities class finished all of their work, the class was free to wander throughout the gardens and eat their lunch. “This field trip was important not only to learn about the art, but also to bond with our classmates,” said senior Argisht Karapetyan. For most of the class, it was their first field trip at Clark, and they were able to share that experience together to create their own memories. “Try and enjoy every part of high school, it only comes around once,” Karapetyan said.
