To the Editor:

I read of the apparent lack of Grad Nite plans and want to present a very different perspective [Jan. 23, 2001]. Clark is considering Grad Nite plans. Possibilities were and are the Santa Monica Pier, Horn Blower Yachts and Universal Citywalk. As I will explain, Disneyland is a distant possibility at best.

According to Linda Lorati, the person responsible for Grad Nite at Disneyland, June 13, 14 and 21 are the dates available for our time considerations. Obviously we wouldn’t be going on June 13 and 14 because of finals. The other date mentioned in the article is June 21, two days after graduation. Who does the author expect to be here two days after graduation at 10 p.m. to go to Disneyland? Hoover is far from finalizing any plans for Grad Nite.

In fact, this two-day delay is the main reason Hoover considers Disneyland its last option, according to co-principal Kevin Welsh. I also contacted Mr. Errol Garnett, ASB advisor at Glendale High School, and as of yet, they also have no final plans.

To the Editor:

Thank you for the copy of the Clark Chronicle [Jan. 23, 2001]. I want you to know how much I appreciate and enjoy reading your paper. Having read it from its early day when it was produced with limited resources, experience and topics of substance, I am very pleased to note the much improved, high quality and relevant topics covered in your most recent issue.

Congratulations to you and your advisor for writing and producing a quality paper.
I was particularly pleased to read the articles on the modified disciplinary policy, the exit exam and the new standards’ test. The staff editorial was of particular interest and it reflected a great deal of maturity and wisdom.  Keep up the good work.

- Chuck Sambar, Board of Education
