At-a-glance

(June 17, 2003) -- For the past four years, the class of 2003 dedicated themselves to fundraising and earned the title as the richest class in Clark's history. Such activities included selling See's Candies and hosting dances. In particular, this class was the first to have student-organized car washes.

In October 2001 and May 2002, junior year, 30 - 40 class committee members gathered at the Mobil Gas Station on Glendale Avenue. Along with them, they carried car wash detergents and squeegees, ready to work. "It was a bunch of us working together for a common goal: to raise money for the upcoming senior year," said Senior Class President MeMe Tran.

From 10 a.m. until late afternoon, everyone was very busy and occupied. Besides washing and scrubbing cars, they established memories that were worth remembering. According to Tran, the most hilarious moment was when the Roter Rooter Trucks pulled up and required many students to wash them. Although the car washes served a serious purpose, the spirit of fun could not be dampened. From spraying each other with water to socializing, members of the class of 2003 enjoyed each other's company, laughter and smiles.

In the end, the car washes were truly worthwhile. The first car wash in October 2001 generated $700. The following car wash, which was in May 2002, accumulated $300. This contributed to the class account and exceeded their financial goal. This overwhelming sum has been responsible for the extravagance of senior prom. Unlike the poor class of 2001, who had prom in the gym, the class of 2003 has been living the high life.
