(February 23, 2004) --All the hard work Clark’s administration and staff has put in for the WASC accreditation process has paid off. Just last week Principal Doug Dall received notification from the WASC Board that Clark has been granted a six-year term of accreditation with a midterm review, the highest accreditation any school is able to obtain.

The midterm review will consist of a written report from the school outlining “progress made in implementing our school wide action plan and a one day visit by a two member team to validate our progress,” wrote Dall in an e-mail he sent out to all the staff. As many of you might remember, a group of WASC educators visited Clark in October of last year to evaluate the school. An Exit Report meeting was held at the end of the visit in which WASC team members reviewed the three parts of the evaluation process and gave their opinion on areas of strengths and weaknesses at Clark. Assistant Principal Joan Shoff anticipated a positive outcome, stating right after the meeting that “Clark definitely passed,” which was obviously the case.

“We are very proud of this significant accomplishment and congratulate all Clark stakeholders in their efforts made to achieve it,” continued Dall in the e-mail. He praised members of the Leadership Committee, which consisted of teachers from various academic departments.

“I’m very happy we got the six-year accreditation; I’ll never have to worry about WASC again,” said teacher Ira West.

Program coordinator Susan Newcomer thought that the “positive reaction of the visiting committee and the WASC accrediting commission validates Clark’s excellent academic programs.”
