(June 11, 2004) -- Sleeping, eating and talking to friends sounds like a typical Saturday morning for a teenager. However, for 53 upperclassmen from Clark, these hobbies were carried on board the Catalina Express speedboat on Nov. 15 in anticipation for the big day: the senior class trip to Catalina Island.

Accompanied by Principal Doug Dall and his wife, Assistant Principal Joan Shoff, ASB Advisor Kristina Provost and class advisor Ellen Armitstead, students making up the Class of 2004 did not let a slight drizzle dampen their fun.

Students were given vouchers to use on either miniature golfing, an extensive adventure tour of the isle or bike rentals as they broke up to explore the island with their small groups of friends.

The group reassembled for lunch at Steve’s Steakhouse, the cost of which was included in the $80 ticket price.

After lunch, the students boarded a half-submerged submarine and were able to look at and feed the fish swimming nearby.

According to Areni Mahdessian, the trip gave the senior class an opportunity to bond and was successful in bringing the class together while trying new and exciting things.

Mahdessian said that she is tired of hearing her peers complain about not having a Grad Nite to Disneyland, because “we can go to Disneyland any time, and it’s not like we would even see each other with the other half million people there anyway.”
