(December 16, 2005) -- The Clark Chronicle covers the spectrum of news, whether in the form of events at school or such events as movies and CD releases that occur nationally. We try to inform you, the reader, whether student, teacher or administrator, with as much thought-provoking, relevant news as possible.

We find that it is important for students to read the newspaper because the reader is not only informed but also involved; reading the newspaper involves a degree of school spirit. However, it is difficult to get all students to read the school newspaper, which then makes readership decline. For that to change, the Chronicle needs your input.

For example, many students complain that the newspaper fails to cover any “interesting” news. If you have any suggestions as to what “interesting” news may be, please write to us at letters@clarkchronicle.com or send your ideas to room 1331. The benefits would be mutual; you get to read that your suggestions really were considered while we see fewer newspapers in the trash and more readers.

Along with suggestions, we would like to receive feedback on the content of the newspaper. Some complain that our content is unworthy of being published, that some things are offensive. Well, it would certainly benefit you to make your voice heard alongside that of the Chronicle. The newspaper’s intent is to represent the student body, and it is not only our duty but also our desire to publish your thoughts. So again, please write us.

In hopes of also seeing fewer newspapers in the trash, we will be changing our distribution routine. Instead of distributing the exact number of newspapers to all classes, we will be distributing the newspapers differently. We will most likely, in the near future, perhaps next issue, set up stations all over the school so that students may pick up a copy of the newspaper. We will beforehand, though, announce in the bulletin when and where to get them. We hope that voluntary pick-up will encourage anticipation so that it may not seem as if we are merely “feeding” you the newspaper.

It is our responsibility and your responsibility to help the newspaper improve its quality so all voices can be heard and an array of news can be covered. Your suggestions, dislikes and likes will be taken into account. With your thoughts, we hope that the newspaper will change so that readership may as well.
