(April 10, 2008) -- Clark Madness swept the campus with fervor the week of March 31 to April 4. The Boys’ and Girls’ Division Basketball Championships contained a set of finely played games that were both heart racing and intense. The Division II Boys’ semifinals game was a quite notable game with a suspenseful edge-of-your-seat play-off with Georgetown v. North Carolina.

North Carolina was down 3-5 and expected to lose the game. But, in the remaining three seconds of the game, as the crowd in the bleachers counted down
ten, nine, eight… sophomore Ando Khachaturov was passed the ball, thinking only to make the shot. And he made a surprising and miraculous three-point shot that won North Carolina a spot in the Division II Finals. "[I was] happy that we made it…we knew we were the strongest team because we had a big lead from the start," Khachaturov said.

The Division II Championship game was held with North Carolina v. Washington State. The North Carolina team, an obvious favorite for its consecutive wins throughout the whole competition, brought the fire to the final game. North Carolina beat Washington State 15-9 and declared itself the Division II Champions of Clark Madness. Sophomore Michael Arzoumanian, who was heaving strongly, wiped the moisture off his sweat-drenched face; endurance was the price paid to win the championship, but quite a fair trade at that.

"It wasn’t the hardest game we played. The hardest game we played was the one where my friend made the shot at the end. This was a calm game," Arzoumanian said.
