Graduation ~ the day students anticipate since the age of five. “I even have a countdown on my phone,” senior Cassie Lutz said.
Graduation is the moment where all the stress and anxiety just seem to fade away. On May 27th, at 7 PM, the Bandera High School Class of 2011 will make its last act as a group and walk that U.T.S.A stage.
There will be laughs as friends reminisce about the good times they have shared with one another, forgetting about their differences and problems.
There will be tears flowing from the eyes of many. “I am going to be crying like a little girl," senior John Runnels said.
But most of all there will be memories. Thirty-five years later the graduation memories of the senior class sponsor, Mrs. Brenda Huvar, still have a place in her heart. “Our ceremony was held at our high school stadium,” Huvar said. “It was a warm evening in May…I remember the excitement of lining up with my friends. We marched into the stadium to the traditional song”
After all the hard work and time preparing seniors for this moment, graduation is a gateway and another step towards future plans. “ I am going to be in the Texas A&M class of 2015" Lutz said. "I am going to study biomedical engineering.”
Fellow senior Patricia Cornwell is raising the bar high for her future as well. “ I am going to attend Texas State University in the fall and become a nurse."
Even though seniors are going their separate ways, the Class of 2011 will always remember the moments shared at BHS. “ In the end it’s all so bitter sweet,” Runnels said.
