Rocklin’s varsity spring sports teams  will have a busy week with playoffs after concluding league play with championships in baseball, women’s soccer and boy’s volleyball.

Varsity baseball will seek its 3rd consecutive Division II section championship when the team begins the road to the section game this Thursday at 1 pm at Sacramento City College.

Varsity women’s soccer begins post-league play Tuesday with a game at home at 7 pm versus former league rival Oakmont High School, which finished at 3rd place in the Capital Valley Conference. The winner of this game will go on to play the winner of the Kennedy-Christian Brothers match-up.

Sophomore Michelle Tran, first-year varsity player, is “excited for playoffs,” and sees her team as having “a good chance of moving on to the next round,” as she knocks on wood, hoping that her words do not give her team bad luck. Tran and her teammates hope to avoid a repeat of last season, when number-1 ranked Rocklin fell to number-2 ranked Roseville in the Division II championship game. This year’s team boasts an overall record of 15-3-2.

Varsity men’s volleyball will be moving to the Large Gymnasium for their game against Del Oro Tuesday night at 7pm. The team, ranked as 14th in the state by Maxpreps, is looking to redeem itself after a fall to Granite Bay cost it its undefeated record in league and an outright league championship. Rocklin managed to stay on as co-champions in the Sierra Foothill League.
The team hopes for a large crowd in the match-up against perennial rival Del Oro tomorrow evening and has moved the game to the large gym.
