The Roseville High School journalism class will be hosting its annual fundraiser, the Tiger Fast Break 5K Run/Walk on May 1.
Race day registration begins at 8:00 a.m. and can also be done before the race at active.com.

The journalism class’s Eye of the Tiger newspaper is produced by the students of RHS and is a self-funded news-gathering organization. This fundraising event helps the program generate the revenue needed to continue publication.
The Fast Break will begin on the football field and continue through the local neighborhood. Everyone can participate, so people are encouraged to invite their family and friends. Students will be charged a fee of $15 and adults will be charged $20 dollars.
Times and standings of the runners will be recorded, and prizes will be given to the top three male as well as female winners of each division. Runners will also be given T-shirts, a free breakfast as well as beverages, and at the end of the event a door-prize raffle will be held.
RHS teacher Righello has previously participated in the Tiger Fast Break event and intends on coming to the upcoming one also.
“Last year was the first time I’ve done it,” said Righello. “We ran through the football field, the old part of the neighborhood, and the new part. It was really hot though.”
RHS alumnus, April Chambers, also organized the Tiger Fast Break event in the past and was satisfied with its outcome.
“It went pretty well, and smooth,” said Chambers. “It was fun and we had a good turnout. There were a lot of people who came like teachers, families, and etc.”
Chambers wanted to be a part of the event because she felt that she had responsibility for it by being the business editor for the program. She also enjoyed the teamwork that was required to host the event.
“I chose to be the business editor and took on the responsibility,” said Chambers. “I liked how the whole class came together and helped put on the event.”
Righello enjoyed the atmosphere of the race and the people racing.
“There’s always the excitement of being around people wanting to race, the people along the race who cheer you on, and motivating myself to run and getting the satisfaction of completing the race,” said Righello.
Righello felt that the only thing the event could do to be better is to provide some shade.
“It would have been nice to have shade, because last time it was really hot,” said Righello. “But the food and drinks were nice.”
Righello believes the Tiger Fast Break is a good idea for both the journalism class and other people participating.
“I think it’s a great idea so the money supports the class, as well as having people be able to work on their fitness,” said Righello.
