C Wing Hallway -

Feng Shui is the Chinese superstition in which interior decorating is used to go with the flow of nature rather than against it. Positioning things a certain way may make someone feel good because the arrangement supposedly harmonizes with nature. If Feng Shui is properly used in decorating, the person’s flow of chi (good spiritual energy) will not be hindered, because everything will be balanced.
Currently at Cresskill High School, students are surrounded by leaking pipes and dreariness because of construction work both inside and outside the school. Being in the constant setting of such a bleary, horrendous environment definitely isn’t thrilling for students and possibly could be proof that the interior arrangements and decorations of buildings may indeed have an effect on people’s moods. Ms. Malenda has insisted that due to the lack of exits in the hallway of the C-wing, she has been feeling an obstacle in her flow of energy. She feels stifled, and it could be due to the absence of Feng Shui in the school building…or it could just be due to the fact that she has no means of escape during her lunch duty in the C-wing…
Having fewer exits in the hallways and no windows in the cafeteria could be reasons for a feeling of suffocation in Cresskill High School. Another reason for discomfort may also be the lack of a ceiling in the hallways—hence having leaking rusty pipes hovering over our heads.
One student states, “It’s really distracting to see people working outside on huge mounds of dirt while we’re trying to pay attention in class.”
Another insists that the noise level is also very disturbing. “It’s very hard to listen to the teacher with all that hammering and machinery outside,” the person said. The irritating sounds may induce an effect on the atmosphere.
The whole building is pretty much an eyesore. Sadly, the painted cougar is gone as well. Maybe more Feng Shui should be used in our school. The school environment could definitely use some boosting up.
