A fire broke out at the famous Gatorland in Florida, on Monday, Nov.6. The fire destroyed the park’s 7,000-square-foot gift shop, entrance and some offices. There were two 8-foot-long pythons kept in a holding pen near the gift shop that were found dead, as well as a 5-foot-long crocodile. A crocodile kept in the same area named Mr. O, was feared dead but was found alive later. He apparently stayed safe by going underwater in a pond. The other thousands of animals in the park were kept safe in pens away from the fire or were in enough water to protect them. Among other damages, the blaze charred the concrete alligator mouth tourists walked through to enter the park. It is an old Florida icon that has appeared in movies, magazines and countless tourist’s photographs.
