At-a-glance

You are at school one day, and you see everyone flowing in one direction. Where are they going, you think, then you go with the flow.

You follow to see what they are so exited about.

When you get outside, you see a bunch of big guys picking on a younger, smaller boy.

They take his notebook, and fling the pages everywhere. Everyone laughs, then someone sees a teacher coming, and they all scatter.

The boy is running all over to try and catch his papers before they fly away in the wind. He’s trying not to cry from the torture the bullies put him through every day. He no longer wants to come to school. He’s too scared that something might happen to him.

Sadly this very thing is happening in schools all over America these days. Bullies have free reign, and kids are hating school.

We need to have greater security in our schools. Better ways to find and stop bullies. We need to let kids see that school is fun, not scary. People need to be able to go to school without the fear of being picked on.

School is supposed to be safe, not a place where the younger and smaller get picked on. Bullies are mainly just people who are insecure in their own lives, so they pick on other people so they can feel more secure. If we helped make them feel more secure, then the bully problem would either be eliminated, or and least slowed down.

All you need to do is make friends with them; be nice to them, and make them feel important. Maybe then we can have safer schools.

We need to make safer schools. The future of America depends on it.
