No matter what sport you watch, all fans know that they will get excited about the game if they’re excited about the seats they are sitting on. A sports fan needs a great seat so they can concentrate fully on the game; and now Milwaukee Lutheran High School students, parents, alumni, or anyone can scream louder, have a great view, and most importantly, may rest assured that their rear ends won’t be as sore in the morning. The reason for this joy is that the Milwaukee Lutheran Red Nights have brand spanking (no pun intended) new bleachers.
Parents, students, and almost everyone connected to the school, sacrificed for these new bleachers. The school raised funds for two years, and all the hard work paid off in a new press box, new bleachers for the home and away fans, and a new sound system.
Lisa Ainsworth, an alum, said, "It compliments the stadium lights that were just put in 5 years ago." The aluminum bleachers are painted red and white, school colors, as opposed to brown wood, that after 30-some years was rotting and raising concerns about safety. Here’s another plus,”Now everyone can actually see the games from anywhere on the bleachers,” says senior Domenic Serena. I guess any seat is a good seat now.
They’re the envy of the rest of the schools that haven’t yet converted to metal bleachers like rival Whitefish Bay, a huge school that, ha ha, still has wooden bleachers. Scott Asbach, a friend of the students who’s not entirely convinced the bleachers were a good idea commented, “At least they didn’t waste the money like Mukwonago.” (Mukwonago High spent thousands of dollars of ‘extra’ money on 8 large plasma TVs for the cafeteria.)
A lot of people thought the bleachers were not a good idea, but now that they are up, many of doubters have switched sides. The games are packed even tighter than before with fans who have become proud of the stadium it has turned out to be. If you saw the bleachers, you would be too. Just look at them, they sparkle in the sun.
