The three months of sanctuary can sometimes be a little bit too long for some teenagers. Doing some research, I've found a solution for ANY kind of teenager to have fun this summer and make it a summer to remember.
Living in Utah can be rough sometimes. The hot summer sun is beating down on you, so why don’t you DO SOMETHING to cool yourself down! Why not do a sport to keep you in shape AND cool yourself down!’ Here are some ideas: kayaking, waterskiing, boating, or just swimming! You can do these ideas with friends if you don’t like to be alone. Utah has many locations of dams and lakes so pick one and take a dip!
For those who aren’t as active and don’t like going out in the sun for a long time, why not a night-time barbeque! It’s cooler in the night and lots of people want a midnight snack, especially teenagers. Choose a location (the most comfortable might be your house) and get the word out! You can also learn something as your doing this by learning a new recipe! Summer is a vacation from work but think of the rewards you’ll get when everyone compliments your wonderful creations! Even if they are a little messy, who cares! It’s finger food, it’s supposed to be messy!
For those who are dating, go on dates in the summer! It’s the time where you’re care-free so go on and do some double-dating! At this time of year, double dates are the most fun. Some really fun ideas that most teenagers love doing are miniature golfing (playing boys vs. girls, couple vs. couple), drive-in movies, tandem biking (bikes made for two and riding together along private road’ how romantic’), or there’s video scavenger hunts! Set up a big group of couples and make a few different groups or do boys against girls. Set up places you can go to (grocery stores, parks, mall, etc.) and do something (jumping jacks, ask a BIZARRE question to random people) and the fastest group wins! Catch this all on video tape so you can keep the memory! The more random and odd things the better! Also, don’t be embarrassed, some people will be inspired by you and do the exact same things with there group of friends!
Movies are always the thing to do, whether in rain, snow, or shine. The summer however is when all the hot and exciting movies are in. Go with a group of people and go to the movie theatre (drive in or indoor) or rent a great classic with your friends and pop your own popcorn! Great movies that are in theatres now are: Batman Begins,”Star Wars: Episode III- Revenge of the Sith, The Longest Yard, Cinderella Man, Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, Kicking and Screaming, Madagascar, and Lords of Dogtown. All these movies are great and for all the different kinds of movie-lovers; romantics, comedies, action, and a little bit of everything. Go and try some and see for yourself!
Girls especially love to go shopping for the cutest and brightest clothing at this time of year! Why not’ To stand out in a crowd with the cutest clothes is probably the most fun thing a girl could do! So, go around with a group of your friends and try on clothes! Try things on that you would NEVER wear, you never know, you might find something you really like! Great things to wear during the summer are fun hats that have different logos or writing or color that most people wouldn’t wear, bright-colored and beach-inspired jewelry is always a summer thing, tie-dye is always fun and stands out in a crowd, and oversized sunglasses are hot. Lots of girls have them and even if people stare at you, it’s probably because they think you’re a movie star behind those frames!
There you have it! It’s the ideas for all the different kinds of teenagers out there who want to have some fun this summer. You don’t need to sit on your butt all day and just sit on the couch; get out there and have some fun! Make it the summer you will never forget!
