At-a-glance

Finally, the long-awaited month is almost here. On August 7, 2011, the Mid-Jordan TRAX Line opens for service. The line will run from South Daybreak to the Fashion Place Mall Station with eight stops in-between. UTA TRAX (full name: Transit Express) has been working on construction for the Mid-Jordan Line since April 2006, in effort to improve the connectivity between cities and increase travel capacity and employment options. The expanded TRAX Line is also an excellent way to conserve energy as TRAX runs on efficient electricity.

Clint Mason, a local living near the Redwood Station, says he thinks the new line “is a good idea, and long over due.” He plans on utilizing the new line for convenient transportation to work and school. Another local, living down the street from the South Daybreak Station says “I’m excited. It’ll make travel a lot easier and make it somewhat easier for me to get a job, I feel a lot better about the TRAX line then Legacy Highway.”

The Mid-Jordan TRAX Line is 10.6 miles long and concerning the frequency of the train UTA says “UTA initially plans to run trains on 15-minute headways, as is the practice for the existing system. The headways will change to meet increasing ridership demand.”
