He's been called the history teacher, the lower house dean, the coach, or the guy who says the pledge each morning, but now Mr. John Salmon is taking on a new role for himself; Vice Principal at Tyngsboro Middle School. Salmon will be filling in for Ms. Nancy Senecal, who is on a leave of absence.

Salmon, who teaches International Relations, World History and AP Government announced to his students on April 16th that he would no longer be teaching at the high school. Students were upset to say the least.

"I was sad to see him go, he's a really great teacher," says Senior Nate Estochen who is in his first period International Relations class.

Salmon, takes on the duties of TMS vice principal, in an environment that he says doesn't differ much from the high school. Salmon sat in the TMS Cafeteria on Lunch Duty and already students were saying hi and talking to him.

"It's tough because I don't know all their names, but the maturity level is still the same," Salmon says.

Former Tyngsborough High school student Ryan Gendron has taken Salmon's place for the remainder of the school year, in order to fulfill his remaining student teacher hours.

"We were lucky enough to find him right when these changes were taking place.  I think he will do a great job, he knows the school (a former student of mine) and how I would like things done," Salmon says.

Senior Jen Clark praises the new teacher agreeing that his fresh ideas and previous experience as a student at THS is beneficial to students.

"He really helped us prepare for the AP government exam, by giving us tips that he used when he took the AP exams in high school."  Clark says.

Although Salmon doesn't see his position at the Middle School as being long term, he is enjoying the time he has there now, in order to get to know the students.
