Prom is a night full of glamour, dancing, and one of a kind memories. The girls spend valuable time and money on the perfect dress and shoes and the guys wait to the last minute to get that tux that matches the girls’ one of a kind dress. The faculty sponsors spend hours with the junior class setting up the location to make sure it is absolutely perfect for this unforgettable night. "My favorite thing is getting all dressed up and spending the evening with great friends,"said Junior Taylor Hulet.

The night of Prom is supposed to be something the seniors remember forever, and this year will be no different in that matter. "I'm looking forward to one last big gathering for all my classmates to have fun. To make Prom special we are going to get a limo, so all of my friends can get together and go out to eat and have a fun ride over to prom," said Senior Erin Christopher.

The location is key for an event like this, and past students have not been let down. The class sponsors and the junior students who signed up for the decoration committee will spend the afternoon before Prom setting up for special night. “I love setting up the night before and seeing the finished product. It’s always an exciting time to see the kids all dressed up and ready for a good time,” says Junior Class Co-Sponsor Kristy McIntosh. Like past years, Prom will be held in Plattsburg, MO at the Community Courtyard building there in town on Saturday, April 14 from 8-11pm. The theme for the evening will be “Illusions of the Night.

Now that the “where” and “when” out of the way, it’s time to address “who” and of course the dreaded rules that come with any school occasion. As previously mentioned, Prom is essentially put on for the seniors by the juniors. The junior class must sell merchandise, help with concession stands, and choose a Prom committee in order to attend Prom both years. Juniors and Seniors are the only ones officially invited, though everyone is allowed to bring a date for $20. Dates must be no younger than a freshman in high school and no older than 21. Dress is, of course, formal; anyone not dressed properly will be asked to leave.

Besides the excitement of prom being an evening of glamour and dancing, there are several other things to look forward to! Students will elect a Prom King and Queen (both seniors, of course), a professional photographer will be present, the DJ will have new lighting and a video display, there will be snacks and refreshments, and everyone will be given a gift bag at the end of the night as long you RSVP by the deadline.

The preparation for Prom may not be cheap or something you can do quickly, but it will be worth it. So make some make an appointment to get your hair and nails done ladies, and fellas just sit back and relax... your dates have everything under control! Don’t forget to make reservations for a fancy dinner, though. Remember ladies, nothing is more embarrassing than showing up and seeing your dress on someone else, so find a shop that will take your name and school down to make sure this doesn’t happen. One less stress, right?  From all of us at The Tank, start preparing now and have a fabulous time later!
