Seminar to Change Next Year
Advertising
For several years, seminar at the high school has been a break between third and fourth hour. Seminar is the break between core classes a time when students can finish homework or relax for twenty minutes. This year the administrators have decided to change it. Starting at the beginning of next year, seminar will be pushed back to the end of the school day. Students will go to all four blocks of classes and end with seminar. The administrators are giving the change a try for at least one year, and the students and teachers will have to see how classes go next year.

This change will also help during homecoming and pep assemblies next year. The high school normally has assemblies during seminar at those times. The administrators feel this is the best way to help some with the challenge of missing their core classes.

Principal Mr. Don Gerber said, “The change is for the students. It’s hopefully going to help the students with missing activities and getting caught up on days they missed. We are having it go in effect at the begging of this coming school year. I have heard good things coming from the teaching staff about the change.”

“We have decided to change seminar time to help students get their homework done before going home. It’s also going to help the students that are involved in sports or other activities that get out early and miss some of their classes,” said Assistant Principal Mr. Scott Archibald

Freshman Dillon Kenidee said, “I'm looking forward to the change. Having seminar at the end of the day will help me get extra homework done before I have to take it home. This year I always have homework after fourth hour because there’s no time to complete it before I go home.”

The main goal of this change was made to help the students out. Students will have to change how they go about their school days. This change will help most students and while others might not like it they will learn to prepare for their next class without having the time to run to their locker during seminar and grab the stuff they need for their other class.
