Christmas is a time for giving and helping out others. People spread the Christmas spirit through many ways. Some help a neighbor with their lights or invite them to Christmas dinner. Others give money to the Salvation Army or adopt a family. The FFA decided to adopt a family to spread their Christmas cheer.

“FFA is all about getting involved and helping out others. That's why we wanted to help this family,” said Freshman Caitlin Mullins. There are ten members in the family the FFA adopted this year. This family was a little more of a challenge because there are quite a few family members. That didn't stop the FFA from choosing this family.

The FFA members were assigned to an FFA officer and had a specific item they were to bring.
Junior Levi Cole is an FFA member who wanted to help this family out. Levi said, “It teaches us good morals and makes us feel good about ourselves by helping out others. It also makes the community see that we are good people and a good organization.” The FFA has about 100 members, and over half were willing and able to help out. They want to do everything they can to help this family have a splendid Christmas.

Any items the members couldn’t bring, FFA Sponsor Mrs. Buller and the officers supplied. The FFA wants to give as much as they can to the family. Giving to a family in need this time of year shows what little things people can do to make someone’s Christmas better. FFA Historian Alicia Witt said, “They [the family] are a part of our community, so we should help them out, and try to make their lives better. If I were in the parents’ position, I would want somebody to be there to help my kids have a Merry Christmas if I couldn’t.”

There were presents brought for all the members of the family, including the parents. They brought the kids toys, clothes, shoes, and socks. They brought the parents clothes, shoes, and household items, and the FFA had a whole bunch of food to give them as well.

The FFA is hoping to leave an impact on the family this Christmas. Adopting a family is always a nice way to help someone out over the holidays, and the Cameron FFA showed they know it’s better to give than to receive.
