Homecoming is just around the corner and everybody is getting excited. Homecoming Week is September 28-October 3. Like every year each class has a theme, and the school has an overall.

This year the theme will be movie genres. The Seniors have Horror, Juniors have Action, Sophomores have Sci-Fi, and Freshmen have Western. Each class will have to build a float with their class theme and present them during the parade on Friday, October 2 starting around 1:30pm. Following the parade will be tear down of all floats at CHS parking lot. Then after tear down, everybody heads home to get ready for the big game, Cameron against Lafayette.

During homecoming week there are always lots of activities.

On Monday, September 28 is Class Color Day, Seniors wear blue, Juniors wear green, Sophomores wear white, and Freshmen wear red.The Seminar Activity for Monday is "Box Jump." Tuesday, September 29 is"Tie" day and the Seminar Activity is Teacher Dodge Ball. Wednesday,September 30 is Hobo/ Hillbilly/ Beach Bum day and the seminar activityis Tug-of-war/ Lego/ "Lottery". Thursday, October 1 is Theme Day. The seminar activity is 'Car Crash,' sponsored by DECA, and at 8pm is the powder puff game, followed by the powder puff at 7pm and Bonfire. Friday is Black and Gold Day, and instead of a seminar game there is Coronation starting at 1:00pm.

These events don't just plan themselves. Stuco makes all this happen. Each sponsor, Mrs. Stuedle and Mr. Anderson, has committees to take care of and make sure they do their jobs.

Each committee has a certain job. Every year Stuco has a retreat before school starts to get ready for the big events. Mrs. Studdle said, "Theretreat was about 3 to 4 hours long, during the retreat we basicallybroke down into our committees and started planning for a first bigevent, Homecoming."

Of course, they couldn't get the whole homecoming done in 3 to 4 hours so pretty much every seminar from now to Homecoming Week they have meetings where they get into their committees and get as much as they can done.

Homecoming is a big event to plan and can be pricey. To pay for homecoming ,Mrs. Stuedle explained, "Homecoming is somewhat self-funded and we do fundraisers such as t-shirt and mums sells."

As you can see, Homecoming week is very busy and loads of fun, so get out there, show your Dragon pride, and be a part of CHS history.
