$0As the new year begins we come to a new beginning for teachers, administrators, and other school staff. Mr. Chad Snyder joined Cameron as the Turning Point Director and Parkview as a P.E. teacher. He has been teaching for 15 years, though this is his first attempt at administrating. He taught at Raymore Peculiar for two years, Carroltine for three years, and Chilicothe for ten years. Mr. Snyder filled the administrative position at the alternative school in place of Mr. Dave Brown, who moved to CMS.$0$0 $0$0The alternative school is for students who are needing more credits to get through high school. "People have a false sense of what alternative school is," said Mr. Snyder. "Alternative School is for students who are behind on credits, not students who have bad behavior in class."$0$0 $0$0Mr. Snyder has always wanted to help students wherever he was located.$0$0 $0$0In Carroltin and at Raymore-Peculiar, Mr. Snyder taught an adapted P.E. class, Preschool, and Kindergarten. He teaches the same classes here in Cameron, but now he is the Turning Point administrator. Not much has changed for Mr. Snyder, just the change of school districts and having a new position.$0$0 $0$0He left Carroltin with an opportunity to coach girls basketball at Raymore-Peculiar in Kansas CityHe thought it might of been a path he liked. "I didn't like it as much as I thought," said Mr. Snyder.$0$0 $0$0Interestingly enough, it was students he's never met who ultimately made Mr. Snyder consider Cameron. "It was always fun coming and playing with the Cameron Crazies."$0$0 $0$0He then left Chilicothe to teach at Raymore before realizing he liked teaching up north better. "In my ten years at Chilicothe, Cameron and Chilicothe had the best rivalry that I had of any other conference school."$0$0 $0$0He went from one coaching postion to the next. This year, Mr. Snyder filled Cameron's assistant football coaching spot. He has been a part of football all his life, ever since he was in eighth grade and has coached football for the past fifteen years. Football and basketball have their differences, but one thing he dislikes about football is that there are less games and more practices. No matter what he is doing, he is just happy to be in Cameron. "I never thought I would teach or coach at Cameron."$0$0 $0$0"I like Mr. Snider." said Ashley Sharkey, student at Turning Point. "I had problems getting my senior things for graduation, but Mr. Snyder helped me with getting those things." Ashley is hoping he will give her a good recommendation letter for college. $0$0 $0$0At Turning Point there are usually about 33 students and 2 teachers at all times.$0$0 $0$0Becoming an administrator isn't easy, there is a cost involved. It cost around $12,000 with an education and your masters degree to become an administrator. Mr. Snyder's main concern isn't financial however.  He says his biggest concern for the district is the safety of the students and the school.$0$0 $0$0So far, his employees approve. "I think Mr. Snider hit the ground with his feet running and does an excellent job," said Turning Point Teacher Mr. Harvey. The students know whatever Mr. Snyder says, goes.$0$0 $0$0The one thing Mr. Snider likes about his job is the feeling of being able to make a change in the students lives. With Mr.Snyder, Turning Point students can look forward to just that and a great year.$0
