The new school year is right around the corner, which means new freshman are coming into high school. They don't know where anything is in the high school or what clubs and activities go on at the high school. So instead of making the new freshman wander around the first day of school asking where their classes are and what clubs are at the high school, the high school and middle school came together to get an activity fair set up. It was Thursday, April 16. The activity fair consisted of a tour of the high school and an introduction to a few clubs. The clubs had either the sponsors or students in the clubs or both to answer questions the eighth graders had and some of the clubs had pictures of their activities.

The eighth graders enjoyed the activity fair. "I enjoyed it because it was really helpful and interesting," said Eighth Grader Katlin Burke.

Eighth Grader Alexis Amos also enjoyed it. "I got to be with all of my friends while taking a tour of the high school and seeing what clubs I want to be in," she said.

Being with friends wasn't the reason the activity fair was set up. "The activity fair was an opportunity for the eighth graders to get a chance to visit with coaches and sponsors of organizations before they get into high school and to find out information about how to sign up for clubs. They also were able to find out what the different clubs and activities do so that whenever they get to school in the fall they will know what is available to them and maybe try to have a heads up about what might be interesting to them. They were also able to find out about any summer things they might need to get signed up for and participate in if they are trying out for sports," said School Counselor Mrs. Grossman.

The eighth graders enjoyed the activity fair. They learned a lot about the high school itself as well as the the clubs. They feel more confident to become freshman because now they know their way around the high school better. They are excited to be in high school and to participate in all the clubs and activities the high school has to offer. Everyone will miss the seniors who are leaving, but they are ready to get to know the new freshman.
