On February 10, 2012 Mr. Jordan’s third block drama class acted out a modern day version of Act 1 of the famous Shakespearea play King Lear in Campbell high school's auditorium. In Act 1 of the original play “King Lear”, King Lear, the king of Britain, decides to step down from the throne and divide his kingdom amongst his 3 daughters. He first tests his daughters to express the amount of love they have for him. The older daughters give flattering answers, while the youngest daughter (favorite daughter) remains silent.

Mr. Jordan divided his class into three separate groups and provided them with no script and no director, leaving them with only the ideas of one another.

In the plot of the first skit the students re-enacted the play using a business as the modern day kingdom. Demetrius Lewis, who played the role of King Lear, gave an outstanding performance. The seriousness of his role made the tone of the play much more somber than the other two skits.

In skit two Amber…played the role of a mother handing down her fashion business to her daughters. In the skit her daughters had to all individually put together their own fashion show to see who would win the “reign” of the business. Skit two was not as clear as skit one, being that it was dragged out and not to the point. The plot became very confusing but overall was really funny.

The final skit was different from the first two, because besides having a corporate business that the head owner wanted to past down to his/her children it was based on a family business [the Mafia]. In this skit all the sons wanted to prove to their father, the leader of the mafia, that they were violent enough to run the self proclaimed family business. Skit three was very interesting being that it was unlike the first two. With the student actors using their hand as props for guns, the mafia based comedy brought both a comical and seriousness to the play.
