- Not sure

Fresh paint in the Wills Gym. Powersprayed outdoor windows
of every classroom. Pretty landscaping in the outdoor areas.
Campbell High received a much needed face lift from a local
church whose mission is to “be the church outside of the walls.”
The Cumberland Community Church
in Smyrna is
revolutionizing what it means to belong to a church. Four to six times per
year, the Sunday service is dismissed so that the church community can perform
local acts of service.
Assistant Pastor Mike Thurman said that this is response to
a need for the church to play “a supportive role, particularly in the school
system.”
“The goal is to support students all the way through school.
We have partnerships with Argoyle Elementary School, Campbell
Middle School and now Campbell High School,” said Thurman.
The campaign is called “Faith in Action” and according to
the Cumberland Church website, it was a step taken by
the church to become more “missional” instead of being simply “attractional.”
More than 300 volunteers descended on Campbell on October 4. Teachers Vickie Mudd
and William Moore and more than a dozen Campbell
students were part of the effort.
Additionally, a Campbell
senior’s home was selected for a total makeover. Just like the shows on TV, the
contents of the student’s home were brought outside and the group retooled
everything. They painted, redid the plumbing, cleaned the house and gave the
family (church members) a completely new kitchen, including a washer and dryer.
Church members donated all the new appliances.
Members of the church have also been on campus and in the
cafeteria to greet students in the morning.
Thurman said that the church would be back to finish its
initial efforts and continue supporting Campbell.
