Embroidered

shirts,

navy pants and

loafers; every

high school

student’s

nightmare. Clothing is one of the

few ways students can express

themselves, and Clark High

School students lost that privilege

this school year.

Are uniforms making

their way into Lake Central’s

hallways? Senior assistant

principal Mr. Larry Veracco

believes that uniforms are a good

thing, but the current dress code

policy will stay in effect as it is

unless it seems that changes need

to be made.

“Students usually adjust well

to the uniforms, and it levels

the fashion playing fi eld,” Mr.

Veracco said.

Mr. Veracco did a little

research while he was employed

in Texas. Once a policy came

into effect, reprimands having to

do with the dress code dropped.

Problems involving gangs and

general bullying also dropped.

So how do students here at

Lake Central feel about uniforms?

Junior Natasha Ivancevich

says she hates the idea of

mandatory school uniforms.

“It would put everyone on the

same platform in a fashion sense,

but who wants to wake up everyday

and get dressed looking like

they

should

be in

one of

Britney

Spears’

music

videos?”

asks Ivancevich.

Would a mandatory school

uniform make that much of a

difference? It seems to me as

though our dress code is a big

enough challenge for some, so

how can faculty expect every

student to adhere to a new one?
