Junior Mark Chambers prepares for battle. - Lifetouch Photography

When you walk through the hallways of Catonsville High School there are all types of people. Tall and short, loud and quiet, weak and strong, Junior Mark Chambers is one of those strong people. At 6’1”, 240 pounds Mark is built like a Ford Truck. He is also one of the kindest and nicest people you will ever meet off the field.
On the football field, he is a monster, bludgeoning his opponents from his tight end position and then slipping unnoticed into the end zone for touchdowns. But his undeniable football skill is not what this article is about. Mark is one of the strongest men in the school. Mark bench presses an unheard of 380 pounds. That’s the equivalent of about 190 two-pound weights. While Superman, a.k.a junior Tyler Weedon, is said to be able to bench a car, Mark has moved a fire truck with his bare hands.
When asked how he got his superhuman strength Mark replied, “Long hard days in the gym and a dedication to it got me where I am today.”
Another reason for Mark’s strength is his love for Edmondson Village chicken boxes. Popeye had his spinach, Mark has his chicken boxes.
Although Mark wants to continue his football career as long as possible, he has alternate plans to become a state trooper. Other possible career plans for Mark might include, World’s Strongest Man Competitor. Mark has watched the competitions on ESPN since he was baby. “I think those guys are ridiculous. They are so dedicated. Beyond dedicated, but I could do it,” commented Mark.
No one knows what the future holds for Mark Chambers, but whatever he decides to do, his strength will dominate it.
