Every year summer movies are advertised, and kids look forward to seeing them during their long summer vacation. The top movies for CHS students this summer included Tropic Thunder, The Dark Knight, The Clone Wars, Mirrors, and Pineapple Express.
Junior Jay McWilliams went to see The Dark Knight along with Step Brothers, accompanied by his brother, girlfriend, and friends this summer. The Dark Knight is the sequel to the other movie Batman Begins and includes the Joker and Two-Face. Step Brothers is another typical Will Farrell movie that includes his Talladega Knights co-star, John C. Reilly. This comedy is about two middle-aged men whose parents get married and are forced to live miserably, and it’s up to them to get their parents back together again.
Junior Nick Kotula also went to the movies twice this summer to see The Dark Knight and Step Brothers with his friends. Out of ten, Kotula rated the Dark Knight a nine.
“It was a little extensive, but it was really good,” commented Kotula. He also rated Step Brothers a seven. McWilliams however has a different opinion about The Dark Knight. He rated it a 12 out of 10.
“It had a lot to live up to from the first one, and it introduced the Joker really well, which was amazing. I would rate it an eight because it was just another funny comedy with Will Farrell,” replied McWilliams talking about The Dark Knight and Step Brothers.
Sophomore Miguel Martinez was at the movie theaters a lot this summer seeing four movies which were Step Brothers, Pineapple Express, Don’t Mess with the Zohan, and Disaster Movie.
“Disaster Movie was just like the Scary Movie series because it was really funny. It made fun of the recent movies that came out, and it was just random,” said Martinez, describing the summer movie Disaster Movie.
He also rated Disaster Movie a six because “it was really random and didn’t make any sense,” and he rated Pineapple Express an eight.
“It was really interesting what they went through, like being chased and what happened to them,” he explained.
The summer of 2008 closed with a numerous amount of great movies that satisfied all of the students.
