The varsity boys baseball team started off leagues in the
right way with an 8-1 win against Mira Loma, but tough competition
is yet to come.
“Leagues will be very competitive, with Bella Vista at the
top,” Coach Martin Whitley said. “We should be somewhere
in the middle.”
A tough non-league game was played against Sierra,
and even though it was a loss, the coach feels that the team
“played very well against them.”
“I’ve had a blast this year,” senior P.J. Simas said. “We
have payed some really good teams, but even in losing, we
still look good.”
Senior Matt Beam has performed well this season, playing
the positions of first baseman and pitcher.
“Matt Beam has shown leadership and is probably the most
consistent player we’ve had so far to date,” Whitley said.
On Apr. 4, the team won against Bear Creek at Raley Field
12 -10, playing well on both sides of the field.
“It was an overall good game,” Whitley said. “Everyone
played. It was a good night for parents, fans and players.”
