All students are required to take health their sophomore year at AHS. One of the units is Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).

Diana Ehlers, family and consumer teacher said, “The CPR unit has always been a part of the health program at AHS.”

Dennis Kolbeck said, “It’s a good class to have because it will help knowing I can save a life. All schools should learn it [CPR] so if someone is unconscious you will know how to save a life.”

Devon Overstreet, “I think it [CPR] should be taught in schools. I would want someone to know [CPR] if I ever needed it.”

Ehlers said, “By using the manikins in class the students get a real feel of how it would be to give CPR to a real person,” Ehlers went on to say, “We hope that students will know what to do incase of an emergency. Without knowing CPR, the injured person wouldn’t have a chance. We are trying to teach the students to buy the person time until emergency assistants can come.”
