At-a-glance

-
On first sight of this CD, I immediately dismissed it as screamy and irritating. But when I gave it a chance and popped it in my CD player; right away I knew I would love them.

Unlike their cover look, the “Sleepwalker” CD contains addicting rhythmic beats and catchy deep lyrics produced by Jamison Covington and Parker Case.

JamisonParker is a new type of music that cannot be classified solely as alternative but more like an emo and alternative mix. They are one of the few bands whose lyrics have meaning and show devotion. For example in the song “Dusk, the Day After,” Jamison says, “I’m falling slowly into all the dreams we left behind, forever a sleepwalker.” They sing about the difficulties of love and relationships as well as mistakes and events they feel have changed their lives. They are incredibly romantic and realistic rather than sexual and obscene like most other new music. There’s no “I want to get in your pants,” only “I just want you to feel beautiful for once in your life.”

The artwork of the CD unjustly portrays the band, making them seem angry and hateful. After listening to a couple measures of the first song, you begin to realize how the artwork is meaningful and personal to these musicians. It ties directly to the CD and lets the listener better understand their viewpoints.

Unfortunately, this California rooted alternative band has recently felt the ravages of differing musical opinions. On November 7th, the band officially announced their break-up with the promise of future music, just not together.

For anyone that enjoys a meaningful and riveting CD, I recommend “Sleepwalker” by JamisonParker, but you better buy it fast before it is no longer available.
